A 2026 initiative of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce
Summer of Opportunity Coalition
For the FIFA World Cup and America's 250th anniversary, the Manhattan Chamber brought together 13 partners from all five boroughs with one goal: make sure the visitors and dollars of summer 2026 reached neighborhood businesses — not just the usual stops.
Projections published ahead of the summer, January 2026.
A once-in-a-generation moment, shared across the city.
Big events don't automatically lift small businesses. Without a plan, crowds cluster in a few blocks of Midtown and Lower Manhattan while neighborhood corridors miss out. The coalition set out to change that.
Bring visitors to every borough
Encourage tourism beyond the postcard spots, so fans and families explore neighborhoods in all five boroughs.
Put spending in local shops
Steer the economic benefits of the summer toward the restaurants, retailers, and service businesses that anchor our communities.
Show the world New York
Position NYC as the ultimate global destination for summer 2026 — and give visitors reasons to come back.
Thirteen partners. Five boroughs.
Business districts, borough chambers, and citywide leaders in hospitality and planning — working from a single playbook.
