What would make Manhattan better?
You don’t need to be a Chamber member, a business owner, or an expert. If you live, work, study, run a business, or spend time in Manhattan, your experience counts, and we want to hear it.
Big or small, any idea is welcome. A few places to start:
- Something that would make your block, commute, or neighborhood work better
- A rule, fee, or process that makes it harder to open or grow a business
- What would help you or your family afford to stay, work, and build a future here
- Something another city does well that Manhattan should try
Ideas we receive help shape the Manhattan 2040 research and the priorities we bring to our advisors and to city leaders.
Open to everyoneAdvisors and a sounding board for the borough’s long-term agenda
The Civic Advisory Council brings together about 25 experienced leaders from across Manhattan’s neighborhoods and sectors. Members inform the Chamber’s research and help identify the handful of priorities the city should act on now.
- Two to three off-the-record Council sessions a year, with a short pre-read before each
- A public readout of the Council’s consensus priorities, including where members disagree
- Invitations to the Chamber’s quarterly Chairman’s Breakfasts
- Members are never presented as endorsing everything the Chamber publishes
Put your organization behind the evidence Manhattan runs on
Sustaining Partners fund the data, analysis, and public reports at the center of Manhattan 2040, including the annual State of Manhattan’s Commercial Life and State of Manhattan’s Neighborhood Economies reports.

Bring your business’s view directly to the people making policy
The Business Leadership Council is where Manhattan employers meet with the officials shaping the city’s economy. A seat on the Council comes with Chairman’s Circle membership in the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce.
