Chamber applauds Governor Hochul’s FY27 Executive Budget

NEW YORK, NY – January 20, 2026

Jessica Walker, President and CEO of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement in response to Governor Kathy Hochul's FY27 Executive Budget announcement:

"Governor Hochul's Executive Budget demonstrates exactly the kind of fiscal leadership New York needs right now. At a time of significant federal uncertainty, the Governor has delivered a budget that protects essential services, invests in economic growth, and maintains fiscal discipline—all without raising taxes on New York families and businesses.

The Manhattan Chamber of Commerce is particularly encouraged by the Governor's commitment to making New York more competitive and easier to build in. Her proposals to cut red tape and accelerate housing construction and infrastructure projects will help address critical challenges facing our business community and the talented workforce we need to attract and retain.

Governor Hochul's pro-growth agenda has generated $17 billion in revenues beyond projections—proof that when you create an environment where businesses can thrive, everyone benefits. Her strategic approach to offsetting federal cuts while maintaining the state's strongest reserves in history shows the kind of responsible planning that gives businesses confidence to invest and grow here.

From universal child care that helps working parents stay in the workforce, to efforts to lower energy costs and reduce insurance premiums, this budget recognizes that supporting businesses and supporting families go hand in hand. The Manhattan Chamber of Commerce looks forward to working with Governor Hochul and the Legislature to advance these priorities that will keep New York competitive and prosperous."
