Chamber Issues Statement on Congestion Pricing

Friday, February 8, 2019

Statement from Jessica Walker, President and CEO of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, on Congestion Pricing:

“Congestion pricing must be a top budget priority in Albany this year. New York’s businesses are struggling to survive in a costly and confusing regulatory landscape; traffic congestion and a failing transit system only adds to their obstacles by making it harder for prospective customers and employees to shop, dine, or get to work. Our transit systems – which are the lifeblood of our city’s economy – desperately need the revenue that congestion pricing will generate in order to improve service and keep commerce humming. The legislature and the Governor must implement comprehensive congestion pricing as soon as possible or risk worsening the economic burdens that congestion and failing transit systems create.”
