Manhattan Chamber Issues Statement on Union Square Tech Hub

Tuesday, July 10, 2018

Statement from Jessica Walker, President and CEO of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, on Union Square Tech Hub:

“We wholeheartedly support the proposed Union Square Tech Hub, which would be a boon to the City’s well-deserved reputation as a leader in innovation and technology. The city’s tech sector is valued at more than $71 billion and contributes high-skill jobs to residents throughout the five boroughs. To expand that valuable contribution, the hub will support job training, sustainable employment opportunities and access for New Yorkers of all backgrounds to the technology industry. Its location on 14th Street will bring it into close proximity to tech companies, disruptive startups and other key businesses, and will help catalyze economic growth and good-paying jobs in the Union Square Area.

We urge the City Council to look past any bad-faith objection from special interests and move forward with this key project as soon as possible so that New Yorkers can make the most of the myriad benefits it offers.”
