Manhattan Chamber Issues Statement on Immigration Policy

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Statement from Jessica Walker, President of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce on Immigration Policy

New York City’s vibrant cultural and economic well-being relies upon the contributions of immigrants from around the world. Indeed many of our local entrepreneurs and major job-creators are foreign-born. Our immigration policy must encourage – not discourage – these contributions, and should welcome those who seek to build a life in our country. We urge the Trump administration and Congress to enact commonsense and compassionate immigration reform that ends the practice of separating families at the border, protects the DACA program, does not unnecessarily restrict the number of high-skill immigrants admitted to the country and embraces those fleeing persecution and violence. Our city, our nation and our business community will be better for it.”
