Jonathan L. Bing and Richard Greenberg of Jackson Lewis P.C. will provide a briefing on the requirements of paid family leave and paid sick leave, including compliance and how to protect your business.
Jonathan L. Bing is a Principal in the New York City and Albany, New York, offices of Jackson Lewis P.C., where he oversees the New York City government affairs practice and participates in New York State lobbying as well. Mr. Bing represents clients in a broad range of advocacy including advancing legislation in the New York State Legislature and New York City Council; securing funding from State and City budgets for non-profit organizations; advising on cutting through the “red tape” of government, and defending clients against investigations by the New York State Department of Financial Services and Attorney General. Mr. Bing also handles hospitality matters for clients ranging from national hotel and restaurant chains to local eateries and bars.
Prior to Jackson Lewis, Mr. Bing served at the request of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo as the Special Deputy Superintendent in charge of the New York Liquidation Bureau, managing approximately 75 insolvent insurance companies with more than $3 billion in assets, a budget of $60 million, and 2,500 legal matters handled by outside counsel and a 20-member legal department. Before the NYLB, Mr. Bing was elected to five terms representing the East Side of Manhattan in the New York State Assembly, where he authored three dozen laws, including those which expanded the statute of limitations for workers’ compensation claims made by 9/11 rescue, recovery and clean-up workers; the no-fault divorce law; and, the adoption of the UPMIFA statute that allowed cultural and higher education institutions more flexibility with their endowments.
Richard Greenberg is a Principal in the New York City, New York, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He advises both unionized and union-free clients on a full-range of labor and employee relations matters.
With respect to traditional labor matters, Mr. Greenberg represents clients in collective bargaining negotiations, labor disputes, grievances and arbitrations, proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, and in state and federal court. Mr. Greenberg also advises clients on the legal aspects of remaining union-free. With respect to employee relations matters, Mr. Greenberg has extensive experience assisting clients in numerous industries with the development and maintenance of personnel policies and personnel infrastructures. In this regard, Mr. Greenberg often works on these issues with clients as business needs and culture change as a result of business transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Greenberg regularly advises clients on compliance with the myriad of federal and state employment laws, including the FMLA, FLSA, ADA, ADEA and WARN, as well as new legal developments impacting labor and employment policies and practices.
