Your sponsorship helps:
· Fund interns from inner city high schools and colleges to learn journalism first hand at a city newspaper and get by-lines, while earning a stipend.
· Distribute free newspapers to schools, colleges, parents and the public at large.
· Enable people to make better decisions about education for themselves and their children.
· Enable schools to launch their own newspapers with the expert, hands on help from Education Update staff throughout the year.
· Fund the awards breakfast for all awardees.
Sponsors will receive free advertising in Education Update in print and online. The June issue of Education Update will be in each attendee’s goodie bag. The July issue will be mailed to each attendee. Sponsors can also contribute items to the goodie bag. We are expecting over 200 attendees. Attendees include college presidents, deans, foundation heads, directors of nonprofits, superintendents, principals, assistant principals, administrators, special education supervisors, and teachers and their families.
Press: All major media will be invited. In the past we’ve had coverage by Channel 1 News, The NY Times, Channel 11 News, Fox 5 and WNBC.
How are our awardees chosen? The method is rigorous. School supervisors must fill out a form online and submit it to our Advisory Council who, after careful analysis, votes on the finalists.
