LMDC Job Posting/Development Assistant with Story Corps

StoryCorps and its parent organization, Sound Portraits Productions are looking for a Development Assistant for their offices in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Sound Portraits (www.soundportraits.org) is a nonprofit company that produces award-winning documentaries for National Public Radio. StoryCorps (www.storycorps.net) is a widely acclaimed national oral-history project that celebrates our shared humanity and collective identity. The Assistant will be a valued member of the Sound Portraits and StoryCorps team.

 

The assistant will work closely with the Development Officer to keep all aspects of the development function running smoothly, particularly the cultivation and maintenance of individual donors through targeted mailings and regularly scheduled updates. Assistant will also aid in development and implementation of new promotional programs to mobilize individual support.

 

Responsibilities include administrative tasks related to the regular and timely generation of donor mailings and timely acknowledgments of all gifts. DA will also maintain responsibility for accurate data management and tracking systems for individual donors.

 

DA will also gain exposure to all sectors of the development function (corporate, foundation, government, etc.), with some research of new prospects and assistance in preparing grant proposals and reporting as needed.

 

Sound Portraits/StoryCorps is growing quickly and responsibilities will expand rapidly. The position requires the ability to manage many tasks in a fast-paced, but very supportive and creative environment. Applicants must be extremely organized, responsible, personable, and have very strong writing, editing and computer skills (Word, Excel, Filmaker).

 

Also, applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong interest in the mission of the organization and the role of development in the administration of a nonprofit institution.
