The New York Power Authority

Intro New York Power Authority

The New York Power Authority is the nation’s largest state-owned power organization and New York’s only statewide electricity supplier. NYPA provides lower-cost power to government agencies; to municipally owned and rural-cooperative electric systems; to job-producing companies and non-profit groups; to private utilities for resale — without profit — to their customers; and to neighboring states, under Federal requirements. The Power Authority is also a national leader in promoting energy efficiency and the development of clean energy cooperation. NYPA does not use tax revenues or state credits. It finances its projects through bond sales to private investors.
