Small Business Week Kickoff Event: Announcement on Annual Second Avenue Street Fair

WHAT:         The Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, a business organization, will join with US Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney and a small business owner for an event to kickoff National Small Business Week (April 30-May 5). They will announce that the Chamber’s annual Second Avenue Street Fair (on May 13) will be returning to Second Avenue this year, after having been held on Third Avenue for several years during construction of the Second Avenue Subway.

In addition, affected businesses have been given steep discounts to encourage their participation. New Yorkers should come to the fair to support the small businesses affected by construction. (According to the Chamber, nearly half of all businesses in the construction zone either relocated or closed during the multi-year construction phase).

The Chamber is also donating a half block of the street fair to Start Small, Think Big, a nonprofit organization based in Harlem that helps low- to moderate-income entrepreneurs build and sustain thriving businesses in order to increase their personal financial security and stimulate economic activity in underserved communities in NYC.
