2015 Cultural Achievement: Apollo Theater Foundation

Jonelle Procope is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Apollo Theater, a position she has held since 2003.  She became a member of the Apollo Board of Trustees in 1999.  She leads a staff of 60 union and non-union employees, and an executive team responsible for all financial, production and strategic functions of the legendary Theater.   The Apollo’s thirty-member Board of Trustees includes prominent corporate and community leaders dedicated to the continued expansion of the Theater’s influence within the United States and internationally.

2015 Entrepreneur of the Year: Olga Vidisheva

 

Olga Vidisheva is the founder and CEO of Shoptiques, an online destination where customers can shop the best boutiques from around the world. Considered the OpenTable of retail, Shoptiques also provides small local businesses access to a suite of digital marketing tools so that they can have a competitive online presence. After graduating from Wellesley College in 2007 and Harvard Business School in 2011, Vidisheva went on to be the first single-founder non-technical entrepreneur accepted to Y Combinator in early 2012.

2015 Restaurateur of the Year: Georgette Farkas

 

Georgette Farkas is founder and General Manager of Rotisserie Georgette, the new restaurant opened in November 2013. It is built upon the time honored traditions of rotisserie cooking and serves French-American comfort food that is simple and sensual yet refined. Georgette has imprinted the restaurant with her personal style in everything from the menu to the interior design, the staff training, service standards, and most importantly setting the tone in caring for each and every guest.

2015 Global Business of the Year: Loacker

 

Christoph Tribus is a highly accomplished corporate executive and President of Loacker USA. An Italian native and Ivy League graduate of Milan’s Luigi Bocconi University, Mr. Tribus moved to the United States in 2011 to launch Loacker AG/SpA’s U.S. spin-off, Loacker USA. In just one year, he grew the business from $1M to $7.9M in annual revenue in just one year (2014), with sales reaching $12.5M to date, a 59.5% increase in 2015. Prior to joining Loacker in 2011, Mr. Tribus served in executive-level roles for some of Europe’s leading global companies, managing daily operations for several prestigious, high-profile projects. He is fluent in English, German, Italian, and French. An active supporter of cancer fundraising efforts, Mr. Tribus has been engaged in helping people with Hirschsprung disease. He is a dedicated husband and father to one daughter.

2015 Small Business of the Year: Town Shop

 


Danny Koch is the fourth generation owner of Town Shop. Growing up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan Danny,  is a product of the New York City Public School system. He attended the prestigious Fiorello LaGuardia High School of Music and the Arts. Majoring in voice he sang in both the senior and gospel choruses. After which he attended Boston University. After college he pursued his dream of being an actor.
He returned to New York appearing in several Off Off Broadway productions and over 30 television commercials, including Midas Mufflers, Shredded Wheat and Preparation H.
